What is VPN ?

We have got production Cisco VPN concentrator 3000, Has changing passowrd for this device got any effect , key or encryption or generating certification,,,,etc ?

At work we have got Cisco VPN 3000 concentrator is currently running , I have been assigned to write document about enhancement the VPN security by using TOKEN, I have not been given any further information.

I do not what I can not access the VPN concentrator 3000 which was configured not by me and in its now in the production environment,

I have followed the instruction in the cisco website for the concentrator without any success ?
